The mini bike Comet 340 series torque converter was specially designed for small engines and light applications such as mini bikes. Check the range at OMB Warehouse. How does the mini bike Comet 340 series work? The drive clutch is activated by centrifugal force from the engine crankshaft. The movable sheave of the clutch is forced in as the RPM of the engine is increased. This contacts the drive belt. The drive belt will then be forced to a larger diameter within the clutch sheaves, thus pulling it to a smaller diameter within the driven unit sheaves. The movable sheave of the driven unit is forced out, allowing the belt to seek its smaller, high speed ratio diameter. As this happens, the speed from the engine transferred to the final drive is increased. Comet Torque Converters for All Engines through 8 HP. Generally engine driven, this mini bike Comet 340 series converter is torque sensitive which means the vehicle or driven load influences establishing the ratio between the driver and driven. In normal operation, the driver "shifts into high" in response to the engine's increase in speed; the rider follows this speed change as in any variable pitch belt drive.
