Torque Converter Questions

Sep 10th 2020

Here are some frequently asked questions about TAV2 torque converters, 40 series TAVs, 30 series, and others.  To see all of our available torque converters and parts, go to our Mini bike torque converters page.

Which torque converter is better, the Comet or the aftermarket?

We have used both the aftermarket and the Comet units and both have performed well for me. You would not notice a difference.  Comet is the best you can get as they are the originators.  The belts that come with the aftermarket units wear faster than the Comet belts, but other than that, when properly set up, either of these will work fine.

What do I need to put a torque converter on my Coleman mini bike?

We sell a Coleman CT200U torque converter kit.  If you have a Coleman with a 5/8" crankshaft like a CT200U-EX or a BT200X, use our Coleman 1" torque converter kit instead.

II'm shredding my belt on my torque converter on my mini bike.  What can I do?

Check to see if your flat inner pulley is aligned.  We usea shim kit on the driver to get the pulleys aligned.  Remove the driver from the crank and install these between the inner pulley hub and the heavy steel bushing until the inner pulleys are as close to alignment as you can get.  Torque converter shim kit.
